How Does CoolSculpting Work?

Since the CoolSculpting procedure is nonsurgical, you can return to your normal activities following the procedure. In most cases, you can return to work or school immediately after your procedure. Symptoms of the treatment usually include bruising, swelling, stinging, redness, and tenderness of the treated site. These symptoms are temporary and usually subside in the hours after your procedure. You should expect to notice results in as little as three weeks, with the most impressive results appearing 1 – 3 months after your CoolSculpting treatment.

First, you will have a consultation with Dr. Singh to go over your CoolSculpting treatments. For the actual procedure, a specialized gel pad and the CoolSculpting handpiece will be applied to the treatment area, and cryolipolysis will begin. The cooling technology, delivered through the applicator, will target and freeze the fat. You may experience coolness while receiving the treatment, but this should not cause any major discomfort. Because the applicator uses suction to pull the fat from the predetermined treatment area, you should expect to feel a small amount of pulling or pinching, but these will be normal sensations.

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive, external procedure where the apparatus is applied only to the skin’s surface. With this treatment, there is no need for a recovery period. You might experience some minor swelling and redness immediately following the session, but that generally only lasts for about a week.

How long is a CoolSculpting appointment?

The length of a CoolSculpting session varies depending on the amount of fat involved and the number of areas being treated. Most appointments last about an hour and can be done during a lunch break.
